Gage Wickiser
It is with great sadness that we report a member of our Mid Rivers family has passed on.  Gage Wickiser, son of long time cheer coach Julie Smith, passed away on Monday February 23rd.  Gage suffered from Epidermolysis Bullosa.  He was 7 years old and while his condition never allowed him to play football, he was very much an Eagle at heart and will be missed as he touched the lives of all who knew him.  We ask for prayers and thoughts for his family in this time of need.  All of Mid Rivers' teams will be dedicating their 2009 season's to Gage's memory.

Our Mission Statement

To be nationally recognized as the premier football and cheerleading program in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area. Through participation, we will promote athletic and academic excellence in our young men and women. Our goal is to return our student athletes to their individual schools as leaders!

Our Eagle Beliefs

1. Year round participation in our programs, training, and sports camps; Continuing education of our coaches; Supplementing our existing rosters and staff by recruiting the area's top available players and coaches will keep our team competitive.

2. Teach the fundamentals of football and cheerleading

3. Leadership is a learned behavior... and can be transferred from sports to other areas of life.

4. Building character in youth through hard work and striving to reach high expectations.

5. Our players will improve through exposure to the best competition.

6. Faith, family, and school are more important than football or cheerleading.

7. Emphasize team success over personal glory.

8. Giving back to the community is a vital part of becoming solid citizens

Our Available Programs

Spring Flag Football is available for children ages 4-15 (age as of July 31st of that calendar year) and runs from March through May each year.    Mid Rivers’ Spring Flag Football program is the largest NFL Flag Football league in North America with over 600 kids participating each year.    This is an in house league, in which all of our kids compete at Brown Road Park in St. Peters.    Games are held on Sunday afternoons.

Fall Tackle Football is available for children ages 7-14 (age as of July 31st of that calendar year/some additional restrictions on 14 year olds apply).    The Mid Rivers Eagles are members of the Gateway Football League.    Our home games are played at Brown Road Park in Old Town St. Peters, while we travel for road games throughout the St. Louis area.    This season runs from August through early December.    In 2007, we had over 400 kids on 14 different teams.    Mid Rivers’ tackle football program is a competitive sport comparative to select teams in soccer and baseball.    Practices are held a minimum of 3 times each week with games typically on Sundays.    Mid Rivers’ boasts an over 70% winning percentage since joining the Gateway Football League in 2005.

Fall Cheerleading is available to girls ages 7-14 (age as of July 31st of the calendar year).    With over 100 girls each year on our squads, cheerleaders are given the opportunity to learn cheerleading fundamentals and compete in both internal and external competitions, as well as perform at football games.

Fall Flag Football is available to boys and girls ages 4-6 (age as of July 31st of the calendar year).    This program is an excellent opportunity to introduce the sport of football at an early age.    While participation and fundamentals are stressed and taught, score is kept, and a champion is crowned.    Games are played on Saturday mornings and afternoons at Brown Road Park in Old Town St. Peters.
